The Service: Assisting in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during the Holy Mass and bringing the Eucharist to the sick or homebound. These Lay ministers are specifically selected and trained by the Parish to serve both the SMTC and the wider congregation.
The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are called to a profound role of service within the Tamil community. Chosen for their devotion and specifically trained by the Parish, these ministers act as humble stewards of the Blessed Sacrament. Their presence ensures that the central act of our faith—the reception of the Eucharist—is conducted with deep reverence and grace during our community Masses and large Parish gatherings.
Beyond the sanctuary, these ministers often serve as a vital link between the Church and the vulnerable. They carry the “Bread of Life” to those who are unable to attend Mass due to illness or physical limitations, ensuring that no member of our community is left spiritually hungry. This quiet, dedicated service brings the comfort of Christ directly into the homes of our parishioners during their most difficult times.
In their capacity as Lay ministers, they assist the clergy in various liturgical functions, ensuring the smooth and solemn flow of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
