Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers. — 1 Timothy 4:12
The Service: Organizing and executing various activities including the Annual Feast, sports, and picnics for the Tamil community. This ministry also represents the SMTC within the Parish-wide Youth Association (YAM).
The Franciscan Youth Ministry (FYM) is the energetic pulse of the SMTC, dedicated to building fellowship among the younger generation. Whether managing stalls at the Family Feast or leading community sports meets, these young men and women are at the forefront of our social and spiritual activities. Their work is essential in keeping the community dynamic and welcoming to new families and youth.
A major focus of the FYM is active participation in the wider Parish through the Youth Association (YAM). By representing the SMTC in larger Parish initiatives, they ensure that the voice and energy of the Tamil youth are heard and felt. This dual commitment helps our youth develop a well-rounded identity as both proud members of the Tamil community and active contributors to the universal Church.
Beyond event planning, the FYM serves as a support system for its members, providing a space for spiritual growth and leadership development. They are often the first to volunteer for any “hard work” required for community programs, demonstrating a servant-leadership model inspired by St. Francis. Their presence ensures that the SMTC remains a vibrant, forward-looking community.
